Dear Diary,

The movers showed up yesterday. I was so excited. However, only two were there and we were supposed to have four. The unloading of the truck started at 10AM and didn’t finish until 6:30. I couldn’t believe it, I felt bad for those two guys.

We couldn’t really start unpacking until they were done bringing stuff in, because we needed a path. There is so much to do, you kind of just look around feeling overwhelmed.

Luckily, we have some time before anyone is coming in town. It felt so good to sleep in our bed, you don’t realize it until you do.

I woke up with the same funk Ken had yesterday. He had some flu symptoms and I feeling it too. Boo…I hate being sick, there is no time for that now.

I am going to focus on the fluids and get some sleep…in my own bed:)

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Monday was a blur of last minute prep for the move. I feel like that is all I have been talking about for the last four weeks. However, you really forget what a pain in the buttocks it can be. Our truck driver, Schmitty, sounds very reliable and quite a punctual guy.

We are going to have so much stuff we have no use for anymore. I have no idea what we will do with everything from the garage…we don’t have a garage anymore. Jeff got a really cool shop-vac from his dad from Christmas….oops, there is no shop to vac.

Luckily, there is a Goodwill not far from us, so anything we don’t have room for, we can always donate. Some people have suggested Craig’s List. I don’t if I am up for that. I am quite retentive when it comes to cleaning and organizing. I am going to want it all done right away…yeah, right.

My sister is coming to stay with us as the end of May. She lives in LA. My dad is coming the same weekend for a writing competition for one of students. He is a professor of Journalism at the University of Florida.

I just want to be settled by then. That should be plenty of time.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Oh, how the weekends go by so fast. Next thing you know it is Sunday night and you are setting your alarm for Monday. We got a lot done for our new pad. We got most of our stuff that we drove here with moved the apartment. Plus, we walked around and checked out the neighborhood. There are a lot of great restaurants. Plus, there is a grocery store and pet place near-by. I love having the essentials right around the corner.

We got caught up on our NetFlix this weekend. I love movies by mail. We watched ‘Freinds with Money.’ That one has Jennifer Aniston in it. The reviews were no that great, but I really liked it. We also got ‘There Will be Blood.’ That was up for a bunch of awards. I didn’t get it. In fact, I fell asleep. I didn’t like ‘No Country For Old Men,’ either. However, I loved ‘In Her Shoes,’ with Cameron Diaz.

We had dinner with Ken and his girlfriend this weekend. We had a great time. We checked out this restaurant in the city, ‘First Crush.’ The food was so good, and they had this wonderful churro dessert with a chocolate dipping sauce…delightful.

We are all set for our movers. They should be here Tuesday, I am so excited to be settled.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Jeff and I had lunch yesterday to celebrate his new job. This is the first time in four weeks I have finally seen him relax. It was a nice day out, so we sat outside. I was so glad we had leisurely lunch before spending an interesting hour at the Social Security office.

That is the first step in getting my name changed. Then it will be on to the DMV for my new license. Jeff downloaded the driving rules and that is one thick packet. I will be looking over that this weekend.

It looks like Tuesday will be when the movers come…keep your fingers crossed. It will be so nice to have that comfy feeling of my own stuff. We are in a great temporary place, but you know that feeling of sleeping in your own bed? I miss that.

We will probably spend most of our daytime hours this weekend getting ready for the movers….that sounds exciting.

We will be squeezing in a dinner with Ken and Charlene. I can’t wait to meet the woman that has hog-tied Larry from the Regal Beagle.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Jeff and I had such a wonderful night for his birthday. He had quite the day, he got a couple of job offers. He accepted the one he wanted the most, and he is really excited about it. He wanted this one all along. I am so happy for him, however, I knew he would find a gig no problem.

We headed down to the Fisherman’s Wharf for the evening. We haven’t checked that area out yet, it is great. We walked around, looked at the shops…we even got our caricature done. I loved it, this guy was awesome. Call me a dork, but I can’t wait to get it framed. It is so cute and a little sign of our move to the Bay area.

The restaurant was awesome. I told them when I made the reservation that is was for a birthday.  When they sat us, we noticed Jeff’s name was on the menu: “Happy Birthday, Jeff.” How cool is that? The food was tremendous, I hope he had a good time.

He always makes my birthday so special, so I want to make sure I return the favor.

Tomorrow, I am headed to the Social Security office to start the process of changing my name. Then I can go to the DMV and get a new license. It is so weird to think about having a new last name. I think I will truly feel married then.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Would you believe it? I am still trying to pinpoint the date the movers are arriving. I am trying to go Zen on it and just go with the flow…unfortunately, I am nothing like that. Oh well, what are you going to do?

To distract myself, I went with Eddie and Pacey to Hooters. On the way, I found this fabulous restaurant with an amazing view of Alcatraz.  I hope Jeff isn’t reading this, because that is where I am taking him for his birthday dinner. It is such a cute little area with wonderful shops and museums.

This sounds totally cheesy, but Jeff and I have always wanted to get a caricature done. They have them there, so I am going to get him down there before our reservation to have it done. I am also popping into Mrs. Field’s for a cookie cake. That is his favorite and a tradition on his birthday. He likes it better than a regular cake.

He has been so diligent with getting stuff organized for our move, making sure all of the proper paperwork is done, waiting for the cable guy…he deserves a great birthday.

Dear Diary,

Eddie and I went to lunch on Monday and had such a good time. We went into Castro and spent the afternoon just laughing. He makes me laugh until my eyes are watering. I also picked up a birthday card for Jeff. His birthday is tomorrow.

I am quite the stickler when it comes to waiting until your birthday to open presents. However, when I came home Jeff totally recognized the box his gift came in. I got him a nice messenger bag. He has a great casual one, but he wants a nicer one to carry to work. So, I got him a black, leather one…I didn’t think he would know the brand, but he did. So, I let him open it last night. I am just happy he likes it.

I still have to make reservations for dinner Wednesday night. I know where I want to go, I just need to make the call. Hopefully, they won’t be too busy.

Tuesday night, the morning show is hosting the ‘Baby Mama’ movie screening at the Metreon. I am excited to see this movie, I love Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Dear Diary,

Another fabulous weekend come and gone. Friday afternoon, the gang went for an impromptu happy hour. The morning show is still getting to know each other, so it was fun to chat and have a few beers. Afterwards, Jeff and I went to look for a TV. We need one for the new place. However, I will say never buy electronics with a buzz. Your husband will like it, because you will be agreeable enough to get the Bose sound system as well. Oops…at least movies will sound fantastic.

Saturday, we ran errands. It wasn’t very exciting, so I was glad we had the Back 40 to look forward to. We had a blast. The band, Boot Hill, was fantastic. We were line-dancing. Well, the pro’s were line-dancing, I was tripping over myself.

Jeff has two more interviews, which means this will be his fourth for one company and his third for the other. He likes both of them equally, so I guess whichever is the best fit will be his choice.

His birthday is Wednesday and I am still contemplating where to go for dinner. I have a few ideas. We are going to do something one weekend to celebrate both our birthdays. Mine is in June and we will probably do a weekend trip somewhere. I have his present, but he can’t open it until Wednesday. I am a stickler for rules.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

It is a foggy Friday, but it is Friday nonetheless which is dope. I think Jeff and I are going to spend the weekend working on our new place. I still have no idea when the movers will be here with our furniture. However, in the meantime we can start transferring our stuff from the temporary place.

I also want to get an idea of how to decorate. We got rid of a lot of stuff when we moved, so we need a couch. We have to get used to apartment rules again. My husband and I lived in a townhouse, so we could paint the walls, hang whatever, wherever. This will be a little different.

I can’t wait to see how the dogs like it. I think the balcony is going to be their special spot. Javier, the Chihuahua, loves the sun. However, I want to make it safe. We don’t need Javi squeezing through the rails.

Saturday night, Jeff, Eddie, Jake and I are headed to the Back 40 in Pleasant Hill. The fun starts at 8 PM for country music night. Boot Hill is performing and we have Kenny Chesney tickets to give away. It sounds like a blast, I can’t wait.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was the perfect day for our walking event, the weather was fantastic and the crowd was great. We got to meet Michael Lewis of the 49er’s, as well as some of the cheerleaders. Mayor Chuck Reed was a tremendous host, and had some great ideas for fitting a walk into your everyday life.

I finally got in touch with Ruth, who is the head gal of my moving company. Is this just a universal thing, that no matter what company you go with…you are at the mercy of movers? First, they said it would be 7-9 days to get our stuff delivered. That would be from the date that we call. Well, we called Monday of last week and they said maybe we would get it the 22nd. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is not 7-9 days.

I called to check in, since I haven’t heard from them…now, she is saying they might not get there until the 29th. 7-9 days, my Aunt Fanny. Jeff and I are so pumped to get into our new place, but it would be better with a bed and some towels. Plus, I don’t want to go out and buy that stuff…we just got all that from our wedding registry. What a waste of money that would be.

Oh well, I will take a couple of deep breathes and relish the fact I am living in one of the most beautiful areas of the country.

Talk to you tomorrow.
