Dear Diary,

After we left work, we headed over to TV20 to shoot our guest shot on Retro Night. It was a lot of fun. Sally Rivers is one of our listeners and she won the chance to help us host. They had a bar set up,comfy couches and we basically hung out. The shows run Sunday night, and it will be four episodes of ‘Mork and Mindy.’ That is definitely retro.

When I got home I finished the task of packing. I don’t know why it takes me so long, but I get so OCD about what I might need. I usually over-pack…then go back in and take stuff out. Now that they are charging for checked bags, I certainly don’t want to get charged for the bag being too heavy.

It is going to be a busy weekend, but I can’t wait.

I talked to Mellie today. She is coming to visit next Friday. Just hearing her voice reminded me how much I miss my gal pals.  I can’t wait to see her.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

My buddy in Minneapolis e-mailed the pictures he took of Jeff in the Gap Outlet front window. So, I sent them out to friends and family all over the U.S. I am just so proud of him. I got a lot of nice e-mails back complimenting him and telling him he could have a new career ahead.

I started packing for our trip last night. It is hard to put yourself in another time frame and temperature. It is going be mid-90’s all week. Ken said he is bringing a bathing suit, since the hotel has a pool. I am going to pass, I have 10-lbs I would like to lose before I start strutting around pool-side.

I think I have everything I am going to need. I will be honest, I want to look nice…I haven’t seen some of these people in a long time. You don’t want people to think you went to Hades in a hand-basket since you got married.

Jeff got home late. It is forecast time at work and they stay as long as they have to. I hope we can spend time before I leave.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

It was another great weekend and I had a fantastic time at the Toby Keith show. This was my first time seeing him live and he does a great job. The crowd was so much fun, singling along and dancing. We had a blast.

Saturday, we piled in the car and headed to the Gap Outlet in San Leandro. Jeff’s modeling shots were up. It was so surreal to pull up and see him in the window. The pictures came out great. We took some photos. His cell phone kept ringing with people calling to say they saw him in the window. The campaign is nationwide, so everyone from Florida to Minneapolis can see it. I am so proud of him.

This is a short week since we have that radio convention starting Thursday. I tried to get my stuff together Sunday. I hate packing. I always take too much. I only need enough for the weekend, so I better keep it to one piece luggage. Besides, who can afford to bring more now that the airlines are charging?

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

The morning show was chaos today. At about 6:15 AM, we lost power in our building. The station went down, the Internet was down and the phones were down. You don’t realize how much use those items until they are gone. We didn’t get back up and running until about 8:30 AM.

It was kind of funny, because there extension cords everywhere…it was like a scene out of ‘Christmas Vacation.’ Slowly, but surely things are getting back to normal.

The craziest thing happened at the salon. One of the guys there looked so familiar. He said the same thing about me. We went back and forth until we narrowed down how we knew each other. He was my next-door neighbor back in St. Petersburg, FL. He lived across the hall. We were actually very close back then. He would watch my cats when I was out of town. We looked after each other.

When both moved out, we lost touch. So where do we re-connect…over 3,000 miles away in San Francisco. It was so crazy, but I am loving it. We spent my whole appt. catching up. It was awesome.

Dear Diary,

We are getting closer and closer to the weekend and closer to Toby Keith. Today is going to be busy. We have a meeting at 10:30AM, then we are headed to the transmitter site. When I say we, I mean the whole staff. The transmitter for the radio station is in San Bruno. We are going to basically get a crash course in radio waves and then have lunch together.

The weather is perfect for it. I only wish we had this kind of weather for Bay to Barkers. Now that was chilly.

I have a hair appt. at 2:45 today. I think I am going to go a little bit lighter just for fun. It is summer, you can still get away with that, right?

Jeff has an appt. right after mine, so I am going to stick around until he is done. HIs picture goes up in the Gap Outlets this weekend. I can’t wait to see it.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

Yesterday was interesting. I got to see my “crazy” and it was a 2 for 1. On the first block at a red light, a man crossed in front of my car wearing a pirate hat with full plumage. When I stopped at the red light on the next block, there was business man doing a full-on dance to music only he could hear. It was awesome and he was a good dancer.

Next week, the morning show is headed to Boot Camp. It is a convention for radio morning shows. Everybody gets together and swaps ideas, talks about the biz…it can be a truly learning experience…if you treat it right. Some people tend to spend a lot of time at the hotel bar.

I will also get to see my co-workers from Minneapolis and Florida. It is a great chance to catch up and reconnect. It is in Denver this year, which is cool because that is a city I have never been to.

I booked a hair appt. for Thursday, gotta get my roots done before I go.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

I am finally starting to feel like my old self, which is great. If this sore throat lasted one more day, I was going to see a doctor.

I want to get back in the gym. I feel like a sloth, I haven’t worked out in two weeks. Blah.

Jeff talked to his family last night. We were thinking a lot about our 2nd dog, Buster, after going to Bay to Barkers on Sunday. I have been truly torn. I miss him terribly, but Jeff’s mom has gotten quite attached. She told Jeff it is going to be very hard to give him back, which makes me feel really guilty.

However, now that it is just Jeff’s parents in the house, they want to travel more. It will be easier without a pet in the house. I can’t wait to get him back. We haven’t seen him since we moved at the end of March. That’s almost four months, way too long.

He is on his way in September when Jeff’s parents come to visit. We are on home the home stretch, only a couple more months.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

It was kind of a low-key weekend. Friday night, Jeff and I laid low and watched a movie. My energy level is still pretty dismal.

Saturday, I was experiencing a little cabin fever. So, we headed out to grab a bite to eat. Some friends of ours who used to live here recommended a restaurant. It is called ‘Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack.’ Not only was it delicious, but the prices were great. I can’t remember the last time I had meatballs, but they were awesome.

Sunday, we headed out to Cesar Chavez Park for Bay to Barkers. Despite the cold, it was a great turn-out. There were a ton of dog lovers and their furry friends. We had a blast and took a ton of pictures…which we will put up on the website. If I could I would have taken all of the homeless dogs home with me. They were so cute.

I also met Miss Oakland, Carly. Her platform focuses on animal rescue. I love that. She helped host the festivities, and we both agreed it was so much fun. We told the East Bay Humane Society they could count us in for next year.

Dear Diary,

I have been so bad about my diary. I didn’t write while I was on vacation, plus I missed that last two days since I was sick. I haven’t taken a day off of work for an illness in 7 years. However, I am feeling better and I think it is because I have been sleeping and drinking fluids for the past 48 hours.

The pictures Jeff took for Gap Outlet should be going in the stores soon. I can’t wait to see them. Not only are they here in town, but all over the United States in all of the Gap Outlets. I am so proud of him and also secretly hoping this will jump-start a career in modeling.

The 11th Annual Bay to Barkers is Sunday at Cesar Chavez park in Berkeley. I am going to bring Javier, my Chihuahua. The Wolf will be out there to lend a hand in the world’s longest dog line dance and the ”Do you look like your dog?” contest.

I think Jeff is coming with me. Not only to support the cause, but to make sure I don’t bring another dog home from the East Bay Humane Society. I have a weakness and would love to give a home to all the pups. I miss Buster and can’t wait for him to come in September with Jeff’s parents.

Talk to you tomorrow,

Dear Diary,

It was back to work Monday. It felt good to be back in the building and see everyone. You don’t want to get rusty while you are gone.

Eddie and I went down to Hooters after the show. Not so much for our favorite, wings and beer…but to get a gift-card for Ken. His birthday was on Sunday and we missed it. So, we thought we could celebrate Tuesday. Well, the computers were down at the restaurant, so I had to make a gift certificate we could present to Ken. The thought was there, and we will make good on it. We don’t need any excuses to head to Hooters.

When I got home, I was feeling kind of wiped. I thought I was just tired and I took a nap. When I woke up I had a fever and my throat was so sore. I can’t believe I am sick again. The only thing I can think of is that Timmy has been sick and it is finally catching up to us. Eddie says he is sick too.

Oh well, time for tons of fluids and rest.

Talk to you tomorrow,
